The Detour of Comfort: Navigating Familiar Routes in Life

Greetings, dear readers! Welcome back to The Grace Diary, where we dive into the intersection of our everyday experiences and the timeless truths found in the Word of God. Today, we embark on a journey inspired by a personal revelation during the closure of schools last November. Join me in exploring the profound parallels between a simple commute and the intricate tapestry of our Christian lives. My Personal Experience In November, a peculiar revelation unfolded during a period when schools were closed, and my daily routine seemed to be humming along as usual. Despite leaving my home on time, I found myself consistently arriving late at work, a puzzling deviation from my regular punctuality. My initial self-assurance attributed the tardiness to heavy traffic on the route to town. Day after day, I consoled myself with this explanation until a moment of realization prompted me to reconsider. One day, determined to solve the mystery of my perpetual lateness, I decided to deviate from the

A Chosen People, A Royal Priesthood, A Holy Nation

It is delightful when we are granted special treatment, right? For events, a good number of us opt for VIP or VVIP tickets because of the privileges that come with such tickets. When a personage of great statute associates him or herself with us, a feeling of honour fills our hearts and we may be tempted to brag about it to those around us.  Or when we are invited to dine with a royal family... Not forgetting about our parents, when they say, "that's my son" "that's my daughter" with pride because of a something great we have done, we feel appreciated and valued.

Now away from the worldly royalty and special treatment that comes with it. Lets shift our focus on Him who brought us on this earth; Him who is the sole-reason for our existence; Our  God. How great it is to be called His Child! I don,t know about you, but as for me, there's nothing in this world that excites me as the thought of being the Princess of the Most High! Being God's chosen! God's own possession.

There's one phrase that I always say to myself and even to my friends' "if it wasn't meant for you, it can never be yours". Quite some deep phrase, right? As people who are called to serve God in different levels or fields, we are required to make some sacrifice. Whether we like it or not, our lives go against the normalcy set by the society. We are not of this world and that's why we are God's royal priesthood. This, however, does not necessarily mean that our lives as Christians should be utterly boring. Not at all. But what it means is that we should  honour God in our service and find joy and happiness in that.

How many times have we cursed and gone hard on ourselves because of not acquiring a job that we wanted? Or maybe, how many times have we blamed ourselves for being late; that we ended up missing our flight or bus; not knowing what God was protecting us from? Or just maybe in the midst of our search for a lifetime spouse, we felt so heartbroken for being rejected? I believe that it has been uncountable times.

I'll give a small secret with emphasis on my own self-made phrase. God cannot allow you to possess that which does not belong to you. Please swallow this piece of truth with pride. That job you've always wanted. That company you've  yearned to work for is not your portion if God has not chosen it for you. He knows best. Better than we can understand. We may not be able to discern His ways, but what we've been left to do is to trust in God. If it is not for you, it cannot be yours. Aren't we not told that everything happens for a reason, for good, for those who trust in the Lord?

Whatever the enemy plans against you it shall not prosper as long as we hide under the wings of God. As long as we run to His Mighty Tower, where the devil cannot find us. Remember, the evil one comes to us in disguise. In form of good jobs, our own friends and everything that we have always desired to have. And when we are not filled with God's spirit, its easy for us to fall into the devil's trap. But when we are filled with God's grace and Spirit, we have the ability to know what has come from God and that which has been designed to destroy us. Let's do some recap when Jesus called his own disciple "Satan". Actually he was not insulting Peter. The truth of the matter is that Jesus, filled with God's Spirit, was able to realise that the devil was using Peter to stop Him from performing a miracle.

We are a chosen people. A royal priesthood. A holy nation. God's own possession. No matter what has been devised against us, it shall not prosper because we are God's anointed.
